The Interior

Do you believe in the devil?
He is here now.
Put a shell up to your ear, and hear his waters.
Close your eyes and see his face.

He wants you to live a full life.
The devil does not live in death.

Do you believe in the devil?
He believes in you.
Follow your lying heart, and you follow his.
He just wants what's best for you.

But the greatest trick he ever played,
was forgetting that he existed.

The Crow

A ragged eye watches a ragged tree,
where ragged leaves just hung.

Cold water beads on their skin,
and turns to ice in their veins,
visible in the sun's examination.
They will fall, each by each.

Below, a man with an axe
and a strong arm
bites the trunk and
spits the chips upon the snow.

Beneath his feet,
unquiet worms turn in the earth.

Asthma

Stuffed with cotton
and left in the attic.

I can only look out the window
and count the clipped steps
of everyone else.

Lumber Pile

Lumber Pile

piece by piece
the proud pile grows
atop a dead frog
